Last Night of SxSW 2010…
You may think the last night of SxSW would be spent packing all of the clothes (and more) back into the few small bags you brought, or trying to remember which faces go with the hundreds of business cards you have in your pocket. Normally this may have been a last night, but not at [...]

No more check-ins at #SxSW, thanks @PepsiCo!
So long South by Southwest, what an experience and what a great event for PepsiCo and Conn3ct. As my bio mentions, I am in R&D at Frito-Lay so my ability to employ social media in my day-to-day job is limited but there were a number of great sessions that I was able to take some great skills from. I think that is why SxSW is so unique, it offers up unlimited opportunity to explore a number of different topics and allows each attendee to get out of the event what they want.

Camouflaging Your Digital Ads
Seems counterintuitive—you want your ads to stand out, right? Not exactly, Bindu Reddy of MyLikes.com would tell you and I’m inclined to agree. The vast majority of digital inventory today is banner ads and mastheads, which were created to stand out from the rest of the content on a website. Consumer behavior online has evolved and Reddy argued that digital advertising needs to evolve as well.

Music + TV + Online Must Unite
My first panel of the day got things off to a phenomenal start. With all the different mediums available, collaboration is a must. “The Convergence of Music on TV and Online” involved spirited panelists from all industries, and their words and advice were energizing, and should be heeded. The introductory question: How do you reach millions [...]

The Buzz Word for SXSW Interactive 2010: APIs
Once upon a time websites were built upon owned databases that served up static web pages displaying proprietary data queried from these databases. Not anymore! Enter the world of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) . . . the buzz word this year at SXSW 2010 Interactive.

South Bye!
My three days in Austin were wonderful–packed with learning experiences, brand activation and fun–but definitely too short. Above all I was incredibly impressed with PepsiCo’s presence at the festival. Both our company and our brands were all over Austin, from logos at the backdrop of every Interactive panel to Pepsi Refresh Project grant competition between two great bands performing at the music festival. These types of details paired with the large brand and company activation (SoBe Lizard Lounge, Pepsi Refresh Café, PepsiCo Podcast Playground) demonstrated how PepsiCo goes beyond usual corporate sponsorship to actual content creation.
Phenomenal First SXSW Experience
What an unbelievable weekend! South by Southwest surpassed all of my expectations from food to music to atmosphere even to education. The Pepsico presence was very strong and our signage looked great! Being relatively new to technology like twitter and foursquare, it was fun to experience the power they bring and it will be interesting to see how we can utilize these tools at Pepsico. Finding out the best tips on where to eat, what shows were happening, where your contacts are at all times was very useful and effecient. “Do differents” for next year would be to attend part of the interactive festival and get there early for the music portion, 4 days in total at least. I am very glad to have met fellow Conn3ct members and look forward to SXSW 2011!
SXSW Afterburn: Boosting Social Media at PepsiCo
SXSW is nearly a week over, and it seems that there is still so much to process about the event. A quick hashtag search for #sxsw on Twitter shows that I’m not alone, and people are still dissecting and discussing everything from media trends to hot music to the best parties and more. For me, [...]
Juicy Nuggets of Truth – brought to you by SxSW
The opportunity to go to Austin for SxSW seemed liked a dream come true and an opportunity not to pass up. As I’m sure all of my colleagues would echo, I’m so glad I went.
Getting to Austin proved to be a real headache. As an individual who considers herself conscientious and responsible, I was somewhat amazed and absolutely furious that I missed my flight (due to circumstances mostly out of my control, mind you). Hopping the next flight out proved impossible as I sat through three additional departures without setting foot on a plane. It wasn’t until the next morning I arrived – finally – in Austin.
